Marlena Dzis
Polish-born lyric coloratura soprano, has been hailed to have
"an exquisite tone... [of] champagne and raspberries."
Having graduated magma cum laude from Loyola University New Orleans.
Ms. Dzis continued on to obtain a master's degree in music from Northwestern University 
Evanston, Illinois. She made her solo operatic debut as Queen of the Night in
American Chamber Opera's production of The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
and her solo debut with orchestra with The Paderewski Orchestra. Ms. Dzis won the vocal
division of Loyola University's concerto/aria competition and was a finalist in the Marcella
Sembrich Kochańska Voice Competition in 2014. Marlena Dzis has performed in New Orleans Opera's production of La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, and gala with Placido Domingo, as well as in Northwestern University's production of The Ghosts of Versailles by John Corigliano. She was a soloist at The American Institute for Music Studies in Graz, Austria, and has
performed in choral works with The Chicago Sinfonietta and Louisiana Philharmonic.
Ms. Dzis was a soloist with The Christ Cathedral Choir in New Orleans, which received a "Best of New Orleans" classical nomination. She has performed a solo recital at The Polish Museum in Chicago, in 2012 and has collaborated with Polish composer Jarosław Gołęmbiowski in 2014.
Ms. Dzis is currently a soloist with The Lira Ensemble, Le Cantati di Chicago, and
Christ Church in Palatine, IL. As a child, she traveled to Poland, Taiwan, Hungary, Israel, and Italy with the Polonia Song & Dance Ensemble, performing for Pope John Paul II in Rome.
She currently teaches at The Chicago High School for the Performing Arts and studies
with Sunny Joy Longton and Ken Smith, both of Northwestern University.
On May 2, she has performed at The Polish Consulate in Chicago. Ms. Dzis is happy to announce that she'll be joining Chicago Choral Artists as soprano section leader this upcoming season.
